At American Classic Exteriors we utilize our extensive experience and knowledge base to ensure professional installations and unsurpassed customer satisfaction.

   SIDING

  • Prepare surface by removing existing siding not conducive to accepting new siding. Nail down loose boards or remove rotted material as needed.
  • Remove all shutters, downspouts, lighting fixtures, etc.
  • Install wood furring, lath or Styrofoam insulated underlayment sheets or vapor barrier over existing wall areas to increase insulation value and provide smooth, flat surface for new siding.
  • Build out starter strip or channel to accept first course of siding and strike chalk line at base of wall to insure level, horizontal application. Plumb all courses to insure vertical accuracy.
  • Build out any window or door frames with new wood trim to insure proper reveal with application of new siding when required.
  • Install "J" channels around all window and door openings and other accessories. "Back-caulk" behind J-channel around window and door openings to seal from air and water.
  • Re-install all previously removed items including mailboxes, light fixtures, address numbers, etc.

   EXTERIOR TRIM

  • Remove all storm windows and doors when installing aluminum trim on window and doorframes to cover exterior moldings and sills.
  • Miter all channels, soffits, headers and window and door trim to present proper finish.
  • Use a thin bead of specified compatible caulking around openings, sills, window and door corners where applicable. Install solid soffit panels in all ceilings and cantilever overhangs.
  • Pre-drill all fascia and related flat work to help prevent rippling. Pop rivet all open seams or use color coated nails on all corners and overlapping areas of trim, no staples to be used.
  • Ventilate soffits every 8-10' on level runs, cutting in new openings in wood overhangs where required and install vented soffit panels.
  • Cover and protect landscape areas during installation and remove all excess materials and debris from site.

   GUTTERS

  • Take down old gutters and downspouts and remove from site.

  • Inspect all exterior wood and replace if required, to be billed separately unless previously quoted.

  • Design number of downspouts required and best locations for proper drainage.

  • Measure the exact dimensions of gutters lengths required. Custom extrude new gutters using 0.032 heavy gauge, seamless aluminum material in colors as selected.

  • Pitch all gutters approximately 1/2" per 40' of gutter run toward downspouts to provide proper drainage and prevent standing water in gutters.

  • Install heavy gauge flashing where required.

  • Install heavy gauge gutter brackets secured to rafter ends using spiral shank nails every 24’’ or closer where applicable.

  • All downspouts to be installed with 2 aluminum gutter straps per 12 feet.

  • All downspout joints to be joined with rust-free aluminum, color coated screws.

  • All miters, drop outlets, and end caps to be sealed with best quality synthetic rubber resin amorphous silica sealant.

  • Premises to be cleaned and old gutters and downspouts removed from site.
